The Black Forest Wedding of Christa and Karl was a truly magnificent two day event, five venues and four changes of dress for the bride. This was always going to be great fun. Family and friends were all really warm, friendly and ready to make the most of this glorious event.
The Ski Museum was chosen for the civil ceremony attended by family and close friends, an intimate affair officiated by the mayor. The room simple but also full of that nostalgia of days gone by. A beautiful walk from the Hotel, the incredible Parkhotel Adler in Hinterzarten. A family owned 5-star luxury hotel located in the southern part of the Black Forest, rich in tradition and located at the foot of the world-famous Adlerschanze ski jump in Hinterzarten.
After the ceremony a walk back to the Hotel and a stroll through its unbelievably beautiful parklands where the children can feed the deer and onto a wonderful luncheon in the old stables. It was really relaxed and couldn’t have been a more wonderful setting, lovely drinks and great food in the beauty of the parklands.
We took advantage of the lush forest and gardens to take some pre-wedding shots of the couple. After the couples session we flew off to do a recce of the church, named a cathedral for its size, with the groom. St. Blasien is really impressive, it has a 64 m diameter dome. We couldn’t wait for ceremony but the day had more fun to be had.
After a small rest we drove to works dinner for family, friends and employees of the company where the groom was CEO. What a great affair, we had a great time photographing the guests in their traditional clothes. The company hall had a stage where a show was staged. Everybody was dressed in local finery and great local food and beverages were served. Then music and much merriment. The fun continued until the small hours of the morning but we had to get back, do our back ups and get all the equipment ready for the next day.
Day two of this Black Forest wedding extravaganza got under way with all of the preparations. The hospitality and warmth shown by everybody was extraordinary. All of the guests eagerly awaited the arrival of the bride on the most imposing of church steps that we have had the pleasure of photographing on. After a small wait she duly arrived and the service begun in this incredible space, full of light and sound. What an edifice to have your wedding in!

The wedding luncheon was held at a local theatre, a very informal affair but with some really lovely drinks and finger food for all of the guests. Later that evening would be the main reception.
What an incredible end to this fairytale wedding. A formal white tie gala dinner reception at the this beautiful and very good restaurant. The table decoration, the food really delicious and the wedding cake, Black Forest, was sublime. But before the cake was a fireworks surprise by the lake. Then onto the the first dance followed by a change of attire by the bride. The last change was into a Marlyn Monroesque dress, really lovely. The party went on until the small hours. What a really great time.
